UNC Greensboro Video Recap

12 Feb

The Cougars welcomed back close to 50 CofC Basketball Alumni for the team’s UNC Greensboro game on Feb. 12. The special day kicked off with the annual Alumni Game coached by legendary head coach John Kresse and former standout and current CofC Director of Compliance Otto German.

For CofC fans familiar with the rich history of the program, they were in the presence of many Cougar greats including four of the school’s all-time leading scorers in Andrew Goudelock, Ken (Gus) Gustafson, Sam Meade and Thaddeous Delaney as well as the school’s first-ever NBA draft pick in Anthony Johnson. I was able to catch Drew and Sedric Webber chatting in the hallway and it’s great to see current and former players interact and share memories.

More memories were made as Rodney Conner, Stacy Harris and Jermel President joined the likes of Webber, Johnson, Gustafson, Meade and Jody Lumpkin (who was recognized at a media timeout in the second half) with their jerseys honored at halftime and now hanging from the rafters of Carolina First Arena.

On the court, freshman forward Trent Wiedeman continues to show no fear registering a career-high 18 points in the 87-69 rout of UNCG. In high school, his nickname was “The Freak” and his current teammates call him “The Hulk” or “Lou” due to his uncanny resemblance to Lou Ferrigno 🙂
