Furman Video Recap

5 Feb

The Cougars showed no signs of heavy hearts playing without their teammate and brother in senior forward Jeremy Simmons versus Furman on Feb. 5. Simmons was taken to the emergency room after the Wofford game on Feb. 3 and was diagnosed with a blood clot in his right arm which has put him out of the CofC lineup indefinitely.

It was definitely a tough weekend for the program and losing G (Jeremy’s nickname) could have rocked any team, but the Cougars persevered under the solemn circumstances. They never let up on the visiting Paladins and continue to fight in the Southern Conference regular-season title race.

This video is a tribute in memoriam of Sharon Walsh, the mother of junior men’s basketball manager and film coordinator Ben Walsh, and Mary Young, my loving aunt, both of whom passed away in the days prior to the Furman game. Thank you to the Cougar Basketball and CofC Athletics Family for your thoughts and prayers.

It’s undeniable the bond we all share as a team and program. We are all truly blessed to have one another, because these difficult times are reminders that life is precious and we can’t ever take it for granted. Get Well Soon G!
