Appalachian State Video Recap

22 Jan

Many apologies to those of you who have followed this blog on a regular basis this season. Five hours and five videos later, I’ve finally caught up on our last five games and boy, was it a record-setting week for the Cougars!

If you are ever driving into Charleston on I-26 from Columbia, you will see a cool Game On. billboard promoting basketball ticket sales and preseason Southern Conference Player of the Year and All-America candidate Andrew Goudelock. The vertical billboard is located between Exit 213 and 214 near the Tanger Outlet Mall and shows just how special this year’s team and season is. We hope you will continue to come out and support us for our remaining home games in February at Carolina First Arena. Click Here To Purchase Men’s Basketball Tickets

Prior to Saturday’s game against Coach Cremins’ old school Appalachian State, Goudelock was presented with a game ball commemorating his 2,000th career point and becoming CofC’s all-time leading scorer from former No. 1 Ken (Gus) Gustafson who registered 2,135 career points from 1971-75. Gus still holds the school record for career rebounding (1,148) last challenged by Thaddeous Delaney (1,119) from 1994-97.

It was another Cougars’ day, though, as senior big man Jeremy Simmons recorded his 1,000th career point versus the Mountaineers. I can’t say enough great things about Simmons, or any of the other kids on our team. Goudelock was more excited for Simmons in the postgame press conference of his milestone and just shows how humble our players are. They have big hearts and work so hard every day on the court and in the classroom.  I always tease Jeremy that I’m going to put together a “Smile Cam” or “Smile Reel” because he never stops smiling. Congrats and keep on smiling G 🙂
