Cougars Resume Southern Conference Play at Furman

5 Jan

Southern Conference play resumes as the College of Charleston men’s basketball team (9-5, 2-0) travels for an important two-game road swing starting off with Furman (10-3, 2-0) on Thursday, Jan. 6 at Timmons Arena in Greenville, S.C. Tipoff between the Cougars and Paladins is set for 7 p.m. (ET). CofC will later face defending league champion Wofford (5-8, 2-0) on Saturday, Jan. 8 at 6 p.m. (ET) on CSS. Both teams enter the game with a marquee win this season over an SEC school – the Cougars, a 91-78 road victory at Tennessee on Dec. 31, and the Paladins, a 91-75 home upset over South Carolina on Dec. 22. They are also the only two SoCon teams currently ranked in the Mid-Major Top 25 poll at No. 18 and No. 25 respectively. The Cougars will put a 69-49 loss at Morehead State on Jan. 2 behind them, in an effort to restart the New Year on a high note against league competition.
