Travel on the road continues as the College of Charleston men’s basketball team (9-4) rings in the New Year with a first-time meeting with 2010 CBI quarterfinalist Morehead State (8-6) on Sunday, Jan. 2 at Johnson Arena in Morehead, Ky. Tipoff between the Cougars and Eagles is slated for 4:30 p.m. (ET). It will be the last non-conference tune-up for CofC prior to a back-to-back Southern Conference weekend at Furman on Jan. 6 and defending league champion Wofford on Jan. 8. The Cougars are 4-2 on the road this season including a recent 91-78 upset of perennial SEC powerhouse and 2010 NCAA Elite Eight participant Tennessee on Dec. 31 as well as victories over Holy Cross, Toledo and Charleston Southern. Sunday’s matchup will present two of the top 50 shooting ballclubs in the country as CofC is currently ranked No. 41 nationally with a 47.6 percent accuracy from the floor, while Morehead State is No. 46 (47.3). Both mid-major programs are also home to two of the nation’s top players in CofC’s Andrew Goudelock, who ranks sixth nationally averaging 24.1 points per game, and MSU’s Kenneth Faried, who leads the nation in rebounding averaging 13.9 boards per game and double-doubles (12).
