Georgia Southern Presents Second SoCon Test For Cougars

4 Dec

The College of Charleston men’s basketball team (5-3, 1-0) will play host to Georgia Southern (2-6, 0-1) in its second Southern Conference test in the course of three short days on Saturday, Dec. 4, at Carolina First Arena. Tipoff between the Cougars and Eagles is slated for 6 p.m. (ET). CofC moved into an early four-way tie for first place in the South Division with an 82-73 victory over rival Davidson on Dec. 2 in both team’s league opener. After a low shooting performance and being turnover prone in a 74-69 loss at No. 25 North Carolina on Nov. 28, the Cougars returned to form shooting an improved 50.8 percent from the floor and making only a season-low eight miscues against the Wildcats. They currently rank No. 34 nationally in field-goal percentage (48.5) and are paced by preseason SoCon Player of the Year Andrew Goudelock who ranks among the top 10 scorers in the country averaging a team-leading 24.9 points per game. Just a little over a year ago, CofC commenced league play with a 68-59 win over the Eagles on Dec. 3, 2010 in Charleston. The Cougars are an unblemished 2-0 on their home court this season after having played all seven of their games on the road in the month of November.
